Let Me Count the Ways

To paraphrase Browning : Woodgrain - How I Love Thee.

Since last January this pattern has been showing up regularly on my projects. It's behind the title on this page, hugging the bottom on this one, even appearing in a vibrant red version here and in the guise of a pair of stags on an album cover.

In honour of Valentine's Day I place this herringbone arrangement from Amy Tangerine front and center on a layout about my cousin and his fiancee. The title, in chic Zarif font, is cut out from the woodgrain and given a prominence by layering gold dot vellum and sparkly sequins over a blue floral. It's paired with a paint-peeling pattern and the two natural textures harmonise nicely on the page.

 

On the bottom half I embellish with a ruffle flower encircled within a scalloped circle. As a repetition of the circular design in the title, it draws the eye down to the photo which is unexpectedly cropped into a semi-circle and placed right at the end of the page.

The more I look at it, the more I love this relatively simple layout. Everything is from the February Citrus Twist kits even that wonderfully apt journaling typed onto stitched vellum.
